As one journey ends, another one (of unexpected proportions, no less) begins!
Warner Brothers Games and Travellers' Tales have this weekend released the cover image for their upcoming platforming video game LEGO The Hobbit. The spiritual successor to the latter developer's 2012 adaptation of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings films will comprise of the events of both The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and its 2013 follow-up The Desolation of Smaug.
Of course, that should be fairly obvious in itself from the newly-released art (left), which features characters from both Journey- Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey and Thorin Oakenshield- and Desolation- the titular fire-breathing menace and the lucky-to-be-here Hobbit newbie Legolas- but the status of TT's adaptation of this year's franchise finale There and Back Again is still up in the air. Word has it that a DLC pack of story levels is in the works for release at the same time as the third movie this Winter, and we'll confirm or deny the news as and when an official comment is provided on the matter.
LEGO The Hobbit reigns fire on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo WiiU, Nintendo 3DS and PC this April 12th (according to Amazon, at least).
