Harry Potter director David Yates helms a new adaptation of Edgar Rice Boroughs' classic novel.
Warner Brothers Pictures have today announced the first production details on their upcoming action film Tarzan. Yet another adaptation of Edgar Rice Boroughs' 1914 text Tarzan of the Apes, the movie is still over two years away from release, but we now know a few specifics about its cast and its première window.
As has already been confirmed in previous press releases on the movie, Tarzan will be directed by David Yates, a Brit filmmaker best known for his work on the critically acclaimed two-part Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows motion picture adaptation and the 2003 serialised thriller State of Play. Joining him as the lead stars of the piece are Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood), who will play the flick's titular protagonist Tarzan, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Jane Porter, plus Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz (both of whom need no introduction whatsoever) in as-of-yet unspecified roles. With Yates at its helm, the production has every right to be a success, yet at the same time, it's occupying the same Summer window as Warner Bros' Man of Steel sequel (better known to the world at large as Batman Vs. Superman), so the team will have to pull off a corker if they're attempting to avoid being overshadowed by their own studio's other major project.
Tarzan will swing into cinemas worldwide on July 1st, 2016.
