Our next glimpses at Q1 2014's most promising video game outings arrive!
Ubisoft and Square Enix have this weekend released updated gameplay trailers for their imminent video game products South Park: The Stick of Truth and Thief respectively. Both set to launch within the next month, these two much-anticipated efforts are not only noteworthy in terms of the remarkably lengthy development time dedicated to them, but moreover in terms of the fact that they're amongst the only major releases for the games industry in the first quarter of this year.
If either of the two appeared underwhelming at this stage, then we'd have genuine concerns about their potential come late February/early March, yet thankfully, that's far from the case. For this writer in particular, it's South Park which is rapidly standing out as the must-own title of this rather subdued period for video gaming, but stealth fans are no doubt going to have a riot of a time with Thief, even if the notoriously tricky difficulty level has been scaled back a little to appease the COD-starved mainstream demographic. Holding their own against the likes of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Destiny come year's end may prove challenging, but for now, both projects have a prime opportunity to take the market by storm for a while, and both look as if they're going to do just that...
Thief sneaks onto PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC this February 28th, and South Park: The Stick of Truth wages war on 360, PS3 and PC this March 7th.
