Gotham City's other Dark Knight will be portrayed by talent from Southland & The O.C.
Fox have today announced the lead star of their upcoming detective drama Gotham. Set in a separate narrative universe from the events of the Dark Knight trilogy and the DC Cinematic Universe that first emerged in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, the series will chronicle the formative cases in Commissioner Jim Gordon's career and the character's first encounters with his city's Most Wanted villains.
The man set to take on the role of the show's protagonist? None other than Ben McKenzie. In the States, Ben is probably best known for his performances in Fox's and NBC's acclaimed dramas The O.C. and Southland respectively, but for viewers in the UK, McKenzie's casting may seem to represent a stab in the dark from the studio. Nevertheless, much the same could have been said of Tom Welling and Stephen Amell's appointments as Superman and Green Arrow, and in both instances their respective superhero dramas turned out wholly for the better. With Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, Arrow, Flash and Gotham all set to duke it out this year, all we can say for now is this- roll on the Fall!
Gotham will première on Fox and an unannounced UK channel this Autumn.
