Warner Brothers Pictures have this week released a blooper reel video based on their animated film The LEGO Movie. The film has been backed with a major promotional campaign ever since its completion, and the studio's approach certainly seems to have paid dividends judging by the immensely positive critical response and the record-breaking opening weekend in the States.
Unlike most cinematic outings, though, this charming outtakes clip (below) has a truly unique edge to it, with some of the animation budget clearly having been allocated to the work that's been done here. It should go without saying that there are some minor plot spoilers within, although none which will go so far as to outright ruin your first viewing of the movie itself. More than anything, however, the video demonstrates the intense challenge that LEGO has raised for each of the other U-/PG-rated films set to launch in 2014 to match it, Muppets Most Wanted, How To Train Your Dragon 2 and Big Hero 6 included.
The LEGO Movie is out now in cinemas worldwide, while the recently-announced sequel The LEGO Movie 2 is currently in the early stages of development for a 2016 release.
