Multiplayer has returned to the foreground of video gaming, led by this innovative sci-fi FPS!
Turtle Rock Studios have today released the first gameplay trailer of their upcoming science-fiction title Evolve. Set to launch on next-generation hardware, the Left 4 Dead team's latest project takes the form of an online multiplayer first-person-shooter themed around 4-V-1 matches between players controlling marine troops and the individual manoeuvring a single, near-invulnerable alien warrior through the densely populated online maps.
Now that they've escaped the shadow of Alien: Isolation, the development team seem plenty more confident in the marketing approach for Evolve. All the same, if Turtle Rock are hoping for critical acclaim with their latest product, then they'll need to push the bar out a bit further than is currently indicated in the video itself (below). Q3 of any fiscal year is a dangerous launch window for a new video game franchise, yet by going against Dragon Age: Inquisition, Shadow of the Eternals, The Crew, The Order: 1886 and The Sims 4, the studio may find themselves in risky waters already, and that's before E3 2014 has even taken place and provided us with its annual plethora of Q3 2014 game reveals!
Evolve will retail on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC this Winter.
