BBC Axes Outcasts Drama

After just one season consisting of eight episodes, the British Broadcasting Corporation has axed science-fiction drama Outcasts due to dwindling ratings. Originally the show aired on Saturday nights, but halfway through the run BBC One decided that it would be better suited to late slots on Sunday evenings instead, only for the number of viewers to shift to just over one million each week (a measly figure compared to Doctor Who, Sherlock and Merlin, BBC's flagship annual dramas that usually garner 5-12 million viewers each week). The finale fared no better at 1.56million viewers, so it's little wonder Outcasts won't be returning in 2012; however, fans may have hope yet- writer Ben Richards said on Twitter that "there are still some ideas about the 'missing' series two floating about", and that we'll find out this year the result of the future plans for the programme.
