Doctor Who: Space & Time Review (4.5/5)
Doctor Who has always had a special bond with both Children In Need and Comic Relief, so the ten-minute special Space & Time aired last night came as no surprise really. The premise was that after Rory, a glass wall and Amy's skirt caused him to drop a power coupling, the TARDIS materialised inside itself; it's not a completely new scene for those who know their classic episodes, it having occurred in the Fourth Doctor finale Logopolis when the Master's time ship came into play. The episode was more sitcom than sci-fi, but seeing as the parts intended to be serious were just that and the parts intended to be funny were just that (well, for the most part), fans should have had little problem with the change of tone. The way Space & Time was shot seemed a bit odd: the TARDIS console room and the protagonists looked strangely less vivid and colourful than usual, however what with filming Series Six I'm sure this mini-episode would have been a little rushed to make, meaning it's all the more impressive. The timey-wimey stuff was just as, if not more convoluted than last year's finale The Big Bang, and there wasn't much substance or continuity to speak of, but for what it was the Comic Relief two-parter proved a funny, inventive prelude to the next series.
