Pettyfer As Peeta?
Alex Pettyfer, a British film star quickly rising in the ranks of teenage actors, has revealed that he is being considered for the role of Peeta in the upcoming adaptation of The Hunger Games. The film, due for release next year, centres on a world ravaged by war where children are forced to fight for fame and survival, with protagonists Katniss and Peeta chosen for the contest in the first instalment of the series. Speaking to AccessHollywood of the possibility of a role in The Hunger Games, Pettyfer- well known for his portrayal of Alex Rider in Stormbreaker and John Smith in I Am Number Four, plus set to appear in the Disney remake Beastly out this month- said he had met with the producers to discuss playing Peeta, but was still "waiting for the script". Currently, the action-adventure adaptation of Suzanne Collins' novel is set for release in March 2012, and even though with the main cast names still being decided meeting that date looks like an unlikely proposition for Lionsgate Entertainment, we should still see the first story of The Hunger Games on the big screen before next Summer.
