Ubisoft Unveil New Guitar Game
Ubisoft have revealed the existence of a much-rumoured new music rhythm video game for release later this year. Titled Rocksmith, the new contender for the genre will feature songs from David Bowie, the Rolling Stones and Nirvana, with more artists set to be announced as its Autumn release quarter gets closer. What's most exciting about this new project, though, is that the game won't utilise the peripherals already available for the Rock Band and Guitar Hero instalments, but instead an actual guitar as a controller that the player will be taught to use through a series of advanced tutorials that will be far more educational than any attempts that have gone before. Speaking to the press about Rocksmith, Ubisoft's senior marketing manager Tony Key said "Guitar Hero was a party game, this is a music experience." Much as we'd like to believe him, we've heard that before about a franchise that has just been declared dead by Activision, so the developer has its work cut out providing a realistic instrument-based entry in September. Here's hoping Rocksmith is as unique as it sounds!
