A HD remake of Bungie's 2004 video game Halo 2 may be currently in development, if reports from various sources are to be believed. The news comes in the wake of a supposed leak of various marketing assets for upcoming Xbox projects including an online beta for the apparently-delayed Halo 5, a third Crackdown title and a Titanfall-themed edition of the Xbox One console.
Until this morning, the rumours surrounding the product, likely to be titled Halo 2 Anniversary, were insubstantial. Head of Microsoft Studios Phil Spencer isn't one to leave a report unresolved, though, and earlier today, he posted the following tweet on the matter of a high-definition version of the beloved science-fiction sequel:
@nixel_pixel Never get tired of questions on what's coming. Just can't always answer as we need news at events. Halo 2 is a good game...

Developing upon this comment, Microsoft were quick to remind us that "your Halo journey on Xbox One begins in 2014", which should mean that if Halo 5 has indeed been pushed back to 2015, then this celebratory upgrade is virtually guaranteed to take its place. 343 Industries developed Combat Evolved Anniversary while Bungie finished work on Halo: Reach, and it's not unheard of for developers to dedicate a specific sub-sector of their teams to another smaller project in this vein. Chances are, then, that players will begin to "finish the fight" once more before 2014's out!Halo 2 reaches the tenth anniversary of its worldwide release this November 9th.
