Executive producer Greg Berlanti has today confirmed new details on the upcoming final run of episodes in The CW superhero drama Arrow's second season. The series returns to Sky1 later this month, but over in the US, The CW are already well underway with their broadcasting of the titular DC hero's latest nocturnal escapades.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Berlanti has hinted at the progress of ongoing story arcs including those involving Malcolm Merlyn, Brother Blood and Deathstroke. Here's our definitive round-up of the exec's comments on Arrow's future:
- ON THE BIRDS OF PREY AND THE SUICIDE SQUAD- "Those are all things that are coming up- our own versions of those things."
- ON DEATHSTROKE AND BROTHER BLOOD- "It's now been revealed that Slade (Manu Bennett) is in cahoots with Brother Blood (Kevin Alejandro) and so we have a two-pronged approach to the big bad of the year which has been fun and different. That'll really heat up."
- ON THE PROMISE (EPISODE 15)- "Every year we do one episode that's more primarily an all-island episode and the wraparounds for that- the story that's happening in the present- is a direct confrontation between Oliver and Slade. You're seeing where they went south- what truly happened with them in the past. And if we do it right, that's going to be really terrific."
- ON THE DARK ARCHER- "[Malcolm]'s the Dark Archer so he's an integral part of the show. He is the ultimate foe, but you want to use it in a way that doesn't diminish who the Arrow is, you know? Obviously, we know that he's Thea's dad and there'll be other steps taken there. So we'll definitely be taking that story further this year."
- ON RA'S AL GHUL- "I can't promise that we will pay [the references to the character this season] off this year, but there is more that will be revealed in the next couple of episodes, directly related to him."
Arrow returns to Sky1 on February 20th and continues on The CW tomorrow, February 5th.
