Harry Potter: Film Wizardry Review (4/5)

This year, the Harry Potter film franchise will meet its end with Deathly Hallows: Part Two, a finale long awaited by casual movie-goers and hardcore fans alike to bring a full conclusion to the struggle between the titular protagonist and arch-enemy Lord Voldemort, and there is no better way to look back on the previous seven entries in the tale than with Film Wizardry, a great book featuring pull-out replicas of key props from the series so far. Everything from the letter inviting Harry to Hogwarts to a catalogue for villainous shop Borgin & Burkes is here, and although more than a few of the pack-ins seem like they weren't used in the films (simply created for the book), they at least help to serve as neat reminders of the key moments of the flicks and their bearing on the books by J.K Rowling (speaking of which, expect the first Book Vs Film feature on The Philosopher's Stone this month!). New insights by Daniel Radcliffe and crew throughout make this seem like a fresh, thorough compilation that's been thought out for a good while. To be honest, the only element that seems a little misplaced is that the release wasn't held back until next Christmas to include Part Two (instead of being rushed out for Christmas just gone, though this may be remedied after the finale concludes) as a preview hardly seems the best way to showcase the impact that the second part could (and will) have on the film industry. Either way, Film Wizardry is still a brilliant compilation- fans will get hours of enjoyment using this as a filler for the gap between the Hallows flicks!
