Avatar Kinect Announced
The Consumers Electronic Show has always played host to a wealth of announcements from Microsoft, and perhaps the biggest yet by the computer and video gaming retailer came last night with the revelation of Avatar Kinect, a brand new experience for the Xbox 360 that makes use of the motion-sensing camera. Avatar Kinect, available to download on Xbox Live later in 2011, enables gamers to meet with their friends as their personal animated avatars over Live, and discuss any topic with facial recognition software that covers eye, mouth and even eyebrow movement accurately. A small trailer was debuted showcasing the potential uses of the camera, for example speculating on the result of an upcoming football match, asking others what they think and uploading the video to YouTube, Twitter and Facebook in real-time. Expect Avatar Kinect as a free download for Live users in the second half of the year, or as part of an update on an upcoming Kinect game!
