Diane Lane Is Martha Kent

Diane Lane will play Martha Kent, adoptive mother to Superman, in next year's Superman reboot, it has been revealed today. Lane is well known for her roles in Judge Dredd, The Glass House and Jumper, great at portraying either young or older characters, so hopefully she will give us a likeable and realistic Martha in 2012's Superman: The Man of Steel. She even has past connections to the DC comic's universe, having played the wife of George Reeves (a star in the red and blue tight-clad hero's television show) in Hollywoodland! The remake will take Clark from his crash landing on Earth to his inception as an iconic figure and pit him against Lex Luthor and Zod in a battle to save the world and rescue one Lois Lane- so typical stuff for Supes. The Man of Steel starts filming later this year, then you can expect a Christmas 2012 release starring the Oscar-nominated Lane.
