GDC: Bungie's Next Is An MMO

Fresh off the reveal from 343 Industries that it will take over Halo with a bang in the upcoming Defiant Map Pack for Reach, ex-developer Bungie have announced some more details about its upcoming franchise published by Activision. Rumoured to be called Destiny, the first entry in the series will be a "massive multi-player online action game", although lead network engineer David Aldridge did confirm too that this won't just be "World of Warcraft in space", the aforementioned PC franchise well known as one of the best MMOs currently available on the market. Any fans hoping to see Master Chief, Sargent Johnson and co making appearances, however, will be in for a shock as Microsoft owns the rights to Halo and its collective ensemble of characters so Bungie can't use them under Activision. Destiny is set to bump start a ten-year deal the developer has got going with the Call of Duty studio, and in my opinion so long as Bungie releases this for 360 and PS3 alongside the PC and includes a decent single-player campaign for those who like to go it solo, their next franchise is pretty much a guaranteed hit!
