The first reviews are in for this new violent FPS!
So, have Starbreeze managed to beat the odds of fate with their new series reboot of the classic Syndicate via Electronic Arts? Not quite, if the first reviews from critics are to be believed. Apparently, while the ambition of the new violent first-person shooter is to be commended, it doesn't have much going for it that can't be found in the likes of COD, Battlefield or Mass Effect...
IGN (75%)- "Syndicate relies on bullets to get through every level. The story walks a familiar road. However, the co-operative campaign's tough-but-fun action makes up for the missteps."
EUROGAMER (70%)- "If Starbreeze had snubbed convention and made a strategic co-op shooter with a global reach, this could have been amazing. As it is, it's the sort of almost-there effort that will likely be forgotten by Christmas."
DESTRUCTOID (65%)- "It's a game you will never need to play, but you won't feel like you've wasted your life if you do. It's a videogame about guns that pretends to be deeper while striving to be nothing more."
CVG (6.7/10)- "Play it in co op, or don't play it at all. Awful bosses, poor story and unimaginative level design bury sexy guns and good looks!"
METACRITIC AVERAGE- 75%
