The green ninjas of old may well be kicking back at screens in years to come!
From what I can recall, 2007's animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot movie TMNT was a pretty weak addition to the franchise, lacking in depth and trading too heavily on the stereotypical characterisations of the kung-fu fighting animals of the past. Still, if something is broke, then try to fix it rather than giving up, that seems to be the current mantra for filmmakers. Whether we can say it has truly worked in instances like Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, The Incredible Hulk and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is debatable, but nevertheless Paramount Pictures have revealed that they are in negotiations with Jonathan Liebsman to direct a new reboot of the Turtles film franchise. Liebsman has recently headed fantasy sequel Wrath of the Titans, so he must know how to bring us an interesting fantasy romp (at least that's one assumes, and we'll find out for sure when Wrath hits on March 30th), and thus may stand a chance of resurrecting what has long been a mishandled set of opportunities. Don't expect any concrete details on the new TMNT flick for a little while, but when the first images and trailers do arrive, we'll have them right here on the blog!
