March's biggest movie gets a poster for its biggest screen...
There are only a few short weeks until The Hunger Games reaches UK cinemas, and I for one cannot wait to see what this blockbuster adaptation of Suzanne Collins' fabulous fantasy novel has in store next month. Evidently I'm not the only one, either- distributor Lionsgate have revealed that first-day ticket preorder sales have already overtaken the previous record holder The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010), a good sign for commercial proceedings if there ever was one. For those of you not in the know, Hunger Games tells the tale of Katniss Everdeen, a girl who finds herself forced to participate in a deadly competition held for entertainment in a dystopian world, and where only one of the sixteen teenagers who enter the arena can leave alive. It sounds like typical action-movie guff, but trust me when I say that Collins' novel is a brilliant, daring piece of work that will suit its big-screen format perfectly provided the adaptation has been done right (judging by the trailers, I'd say that's a strong yes!). Below you can see the final poster released for the movie, advertising its stay at IMAX cinemas across the UK from its launch date. The Hunger Games arrives on March 23rd.
