House Cancelled

Our House, moving out of the middle of our street.
Well, the day had to come at some point. The US medical drama House, starring Hugh Laurie, will reach its final case at the end of this eighth season, producers Fox have confirmed. "The decision to end the show now, or ever, is a painful one, as it risks putting asunder hundreds of close friendships that have developed over the last eight years- but also because the show itself has been a source of great pride to everyone involved," Fox have said today in the wake of their announcement, "The producers have always imagined House as an enigmatic creature; he should never be the last one to leave the party. How much better to disappear before the music stops, while there is still some promise and mystique in the air." I for one actually commend Fox's decision to end what has now become a drama on its very last legs of innovation before things become too tiresome, but nevertheless it'll be a shame to see Laurie out of our schedules in his well-rounded role next year. House returns to Sky1 on February 23rd, and its finale (confirmed to star Olivia Wilde as Thirteen) will commence shooting this April.
