Brace yourselves, Trekkians- could this be the perfect Star Trek video game?We're all going to be gearing up for the release of Star Trek 2 in cinemas next Summer when 2012 starts to roll towards its climax, but for now we can at least get excited at the announcement by Paramount and Namco Bandai that a video game tie-in to the movie sequel is on its way next year too. Taking place inbetween the events of the plot of 2009's acclaimed reboot and 2013's successor, the sci-fi adventure title will feature dynamic co-op play between Kirk and Spock, as well as epic land and space battles which will have consequences on the entire Trek universe depending on the player's decisions. Movie tie-ins rarely enter groundbreaking territory, yet that such an emphasis is being placed on this project (currently titled simply Star Trek) could at least give fuel to the hope that this might not be as bad as some of you are likely expecting. Star Trek 2 beams into a theatre near you on May 17th, 2013.
