Could the story of the Autobots be starting over?
What with Paramount's announcement this week that there will be a fourth Transformers movie out in the near future, speculation amongst fans and stars has already been rife as to what form Michael Bay's latest explosion-fest will take. One of the main theories posed has been that the new flick will be a 'reboot' of sorts, perhaps not necessarily in the same vein as The Amazing Spider-Man (where we seem to be heading back to a twisted and shifted origins story), but instead where very few of the main cast of the previous three movies appear here. Speaking to E! Online, Josh Duhamel- Colonel William Lennox in the original trlogy- made a couple of interesting claims regarding the upcoming sequel: "I don't think anybody's doing it [i.e. from the cast he knew]. I know Shia LeBeouf's not doing it. I don't think Tyrese Gibson or Rosie Huntington-Whiteley or anybody else is doing it." If we are to take this as gospel, then it bodes as intriguing thinking for T4 in that it might see the surviving Autobots from Dark of the Moon looking to a new human friend for help, perhaps even in a war against a new Decepticon force or another enemy from the Hasbro toy universe such as the sinister Predacons (who have appeared multiple times in the various incarnations of the TV show). Remember that nothing's confirmed just yet, and we'll probably have to wait for the word of Bay himself later this year for the actual revelation of what's to come, but this certainly could turn out to be a lot better than I had expected if the director is prepared to commit himself to completely new cast members and storylines! Transformers 4 will release on June 29th, 2014 worldwide.
