The hilarious scares will have to wait until next January.
I won't deny that the appeal of the various Wayans Brothers parody movies (Meet the Spartans; Vampires Suck etc.) is akin to Marmite in that you'll either love just how bad each one is, or you'll wonder why you are sitting in the cinema having shelled out nearly a tenner to watch one of them. Indeed, critical reception to each entry in this seemingly endless flood of shameless mickey-takes has been negative to say the least, with the majority of them ranking amongst the worst-scored films ever on Metacritic in terms of average ratings. Nevertheless, I've always had a place in my heart for them, so I'm looking forward to see how atrocious things get when Scary Movie 5, the latest in the long-running horror-spoof franchise, arrives in cinemas. Sadly, it has been revealed that the sequel has been delayed to next year- apparently the original April 2012 release date snuck up on the production team, to the point that they have yet to even start filming the movie, so obviously there was no question that it would not make it to screen in two months time. There's no concrete details yet as to just which horror flicks no. 5 will parody, but what with all the ruckus about the likes of Paranormal Activity, Final Destination, Child's Play and The Woman In Black recently, don't be surprised if those best-selling romps get spoofed in some funny or disgusting way! Scary Movie 5 will reach us on January 11th, 2013.
