ComicCon: Hellboy III Isn't Dead

The world's most alien hero may well return for his finale!
Ever since the release of Hellboy II: The Golden Army (3/5) in cinemas back in 2008, comic-book fans have been clamouring for a final sequel to wrap up the much-loved cult trilogy of superhero gothic pieces starring Ron Pearlman. Until now, it seemed as if Guillermo del Toro was too busy with other projects to consider picking up the Rasputin resurrection storyline for a third entry, but it appears that things may have shifted on this front for the better. Pearlman recently visited a sick child in costume as part of the 'Make-A-Wish' foundation's charity work, and this has apparently inspired del Toro to talk to series creator Mike Magnola about reviving the franchise. "We're going to make an effort to do it," he says, "I hope it happens." I don't think he's alone in terms of fan appeal for this final instalment! I certainly loved the 2004 original (4/5), and although the sequel was a bit of a disappointment, it still boasted a lot of promise for its follow-up. If Hellboy III does get commissioned, expect it to hold a 2015 release date. Keep checking back over the next few months for more updates on the reported project.
