More details on a highly anticipated sci-fi premiere!
Since ComicCon 2011's big reveal, there has been little extra news on the announced Mass Effect live-action movie project...until now! After this long period of silence, it has been confirmed by Deadline that Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures have had a script for this opening film penned and drafted. This is a big development considering that things were merely in the planning stages last year, although it seems there's a fair way to go yet in terms of assembling a definite cast and crew for the motion picture adaptation. Oh yes, it's an adaptation- another report from Deadline confirmed that it will be the first Mass Effect game with its male protagonist of Commander Shepherd that forms the basis for the first of the three planned movies. Released in 2007, Mass Effect told the tale of Shepherd's fight to stop a rogue Spectre unleashing an ancient force capable of destroying the galaxy before it was too late. The narrative had its minor problems, but it should hopefully prove prime material for this kind of project. Expect more details on the flick soon; the Mass Effect movie is likely to release in Winter 2014 or Spring 2015.
