More Series Seven confirmations with just over a month to go until Episode One broadcasts!
As we move through July, the anticipat-o-meter for the latest season of Doctor Who will begin to sky rocket as more and more announcements are made for Asylum Of The Daleks, Dinosaurs On A Spaceship and the three other new episodes forming the first part of Series Seven that will air starting next month. We've had a couple of interesting pieces of news recently on the latest season from the series' press team. Firstly, it has been announced that Dame Diana Rigg and her daughter Rachael Stirling will star in an episode of the early 2013 second half of the season penned by Mark Gatiss as the 'mother and daughter with a dark secret'. If we are to go by the idea that Mark Gatiss has written two separate episodes to air as part of the later half of the run, then this is the rough guide we've got to the scripting team of the series...
STEVEN MOFFAT- 5 EPISODES (EPISODES 1, 5, CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, 7 & 14)
CHRIS CHIBNALL- 2 EPISODES (EPISODES 2 & 4)
TOBY WHITHOUSE- 1 EPISODE (EPISODE 3)
MARK GATISS- 2 EPISODES (EPISODES 8 & 12, TBC)
NEIL CROSS- 1 EPISODE (EPISODE 11, TBC)
That gives us eleven of the fourteen episodes of the series with confirmed writers, though it seems likely Toby Whithouse will do at least one more story, and indeed that Tom McRae may return after the success of The Girl Who Waited. With any luck, another 'celebrity' writer like Richard Curtis and Neil Gaiman may even have chance to tag along later in the run too! On top of that announcement, we now know that there will be a ComicCon panel for Who on Sunday, July 15th with a brand new trailer for Series Seven. Expect the video to be released on the web soon after, and from there on out the announcements will just keep on coming! Doctor Who returns on August 25th on BBC1.
