The Hunger Games Finale Films Confirmed

Find out how Mockingjay will play out on the big screen!
There's no denying that the first Hunger Games book-to-film adaptation proved to be a huge success back in Spring, managing to make itself one of the most financially acclaimed movies of 2012 so far. Lionsgate were quick to commission a sequel, Catching Fire, for production next year, but now they've taken things one step further, unveiling the rest of the franchise's future. Similar to the direction their Twilight series has taken with Breaking Dawn, the final entry in the Hunger Games novel trilogy will be split into two separate films. Yep, just like Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows and The Hobbit before it, Mockingjay will be broken up by an epic cliffhanger at a currently unconfirmed point in the storyline. The final instalment of Suzanne Collins' dystopian narrative sees Katniss lead a full-scale rebellion into war against the leaders of the Hunger Games, the consequences of which will affect her in ways that she could never have imagined. I'm getting irked now by Lionsgate trying to follow an unnecessary financial pattern that Warner Brothers are only implementing for adaptations that really need the extra time. Nevertheless, this is where the franchise will head, and it at least guarantees more action from Jennifer Lawrence and the team for a little while longer. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will release on November 22nd, 2013, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 will debut in cinemas on November 21st, 2014 and Part 2 on November 20th, 2015.
