Who News: Matt On Jenna; DWM 450 Cover Debuts

More news on Series Seven and DWM!
There's a mere four weeks now until Doctor Who returns to our screens- and in anticipation of this momentous occasion, the production team are continuing to promote the new season of the show. Here are a couple of interesting new Who tidbits revealed in the past few days, and let the countdown commence...

  • THE ELEVENTH DOC ON CLARA: Eleventh Doctor actor Matt Smith has been chatting to SFX about the debut of Jenna-Louise Coleman as his character's new companion, rumoured to be named Clara. Here's what he had to say: "I think Steven's writing her in a very interesting way- in a different way to Amy Pond. I can't tell you too much about her and her story because it's all top-secret as always, but we're very excited and we're planning to make the show bigger and better with her and just keep moving forward. Jenna's doing a wonderful job, she's a wonderful actress and very dedicated!" Strong words from the Doc, then, and of course we'll meet his new companion on Christmas Day.
  • 450 AND COUNTING: The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine marks the magazine publication's 450th outing, a staggering landmark achievement that really should be commended. Its simple yet effective cover can be seen above; the new issue features articles on the evolution between Patrick Troughton's Second Doctor and Matt's Eleventh, tributes to the late Caroline John and the production stages of the Christopher Eccleston finale. We can likely expect new news announcements on Series Seven and future Who releases too, and I'll keep you posted on those here on the blog.
Doctor Who returns to BBC1 on August 25th.
