It's true to say that July isn't exactly packed with big entertainment releases, and so I've had to scrape the barrel a bit in order to find the five products worth looking out for. On the plus side, having to do this means I've been able to discover some top-quality-looking releases for you to check out, and they'll definitely sustain the wait for the bigger months (i.e. August onwards). So, here they are...
5. ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT: 2010's Dawn Of The Dinosaurs turned out to be an unexpected hit, so I'm looking forward to seeing if Ice Age can pleasantly surprise us once again with its fourth entry Continental Drift. Will the friendships of Manny and the gang survive a colossal break-up of the continents...? (Friday 13th)
4. KINGDOM HEARTS 3D: DREAM DROP DISTANCE- In the absence of a definitive confirmation of Kingdom Hearts III, the closest we're getting is this exciting new 3DS spin-off. Sora and Riku must train as Keyblade masters, but a dark force awaits them as they do, and if they don't stop it then their entire world as they know it could fall to the heart of evil! (Friday 20th)
3. DOCTOR WHO: DARK HORIZONS- We've got just over a month until Doctor Who returns to our screens proper, yet until then we've at least got a brand new bumper novel adventure featuring Matt's Doctor to look forward to. Dark Horizons takes place after the Christmas Special, and features a renegade faction of humans who believe that they have the Doctor to save them from tyranny- but are they right, or does the Time Lord have his own agenda? (Thursday 5th)
2. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN- First impressions from critics on the new Spider-Man film reboot have been positive so far, and I cannot wait to find out if this does a better job than the original trilogy of Tobey Maguire films (which with hindsight seem weak). Andrew Garfield is one of my favourite actors, and I have no doubt he'll bring us a fantastic new version of the Webbed Wonder. (Tuesday 3rd)
1. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES- And from one superhero to a completely different character, we've got my Most Anticipated Film Of 2012 here on the stage. Christopher Nolan wraps up his Batman trilogy as the Dark Knight faces an immense physical challenge when Bane and his new League of Shadows emerge to face off against the entirety of Gotham City- will Bruce Wayne and his caped alter-ego make it out of this epic finale alive?!? (Friday 20th)
