Atlantis Première Date Announced

BBC One's much-anticipated new fantasy drama series débuts later this month.
The BBC have today announced the premiere broadcast date of their new fantasy television drama series Atlantis. Brought to us by the team and minds behind Merlin, this latest saga focuses on Ancient Greek mythology and its representation of the alleged 'lost' city of Atlantis which gives the programme its name.

At present, it seems as if Atlantis will broadcast relatively early on Saturday evenings so as to continue to pave the way for Strictly Come Dancing. The first season will run for thirteen episodes and thus thirteen weeks, which means that on the basis of its initial airdate, its broadcast will wrap up on December 21st (just before the Beeb's Christmas schedule gets into full swing). There is a chance that Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary Special could delay its eighth or ninth episode by a week thanks to its impressive 75-minute running time, but for now there's sufficient time for the series to find its feet with little dramatic competition during the imminent weeks ahead.

Atlantis will première its first episode on BBC One on Saturday, September 28th.
