Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them Announced

Believe it- J.K. Rowling is writing a new spin-off film in the Harry Potter franchise!
Warner Brothers Pictures have today announced the production of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for release in the near future. This fantasy motion picture will be none other than a spin-off instalment in the Harry Potter franchise, and better yet will mark the beginning of an entirely new series of prequel movies for the saga.

That's by no means the best news of the day, though. Warner Brothers were additionally (rightly) proud to confirm that J.K. Rowling will pen this first big-screen entry herself. Considering that Rowling was only involved in ensuring the original eight Harry Potter films matched her artistic vision, rather than fully-fledged writing duties, for her to actively take on the role of screenplay writer here is a massive step forward. She'll be tackling a BBC adaptation of The Casual Vacancy later this year, but from this point onwards, it seems her focus will be primarily on new Potter outings!

In case the concept of adapting what was originally a fictitious textbook in the universe of the Boy Who Lived seems rather dull, Rowling confirmed a premise of sorts for the movie too. The prequel's protagonist will be Fantastic Beasts' invented author Newt Scamander, who viewers will meet in New York as he commences a journey of magical discovery. Certainly, this is admirably distinct territory from the Potter novels, and to see it rendered first in cinemas is going to be a thrilling experience.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will levitate into cinemas worldwide in 2016.
