True Blood Cancelled

HBO's popular vampire fantasy drama reaches its climax in 2014 with Season Seven.
HBO Studios have this week announced the cancellation of their hit fantasy drama television series True Blood. The show will reach its seventh and final season next year, after which the channel has confirmed there will be no further episodes put into production for future broadcast.

Based on Charlaine Harris' series of fantasy novels The Southern Vampire Mysteries, the programme followed a telepathic Human-Fairy, Sookie Stackhouse (yes, really, and she was portrayed by X-Men's Anna Paquin) as she encountered a wealth of vampires living among our society and came into both violent and romantic conflict with their ranks. For a fantasy drama such as this to manage a continuous seven-year run is in itself an impressive feat which should be commended. HBO are seemingly ending the series on a celebratory note rather than fans reacting adversely to desperate plot twists that can come when a saga is prolonged to an overbearing extent.

True Blood will broadcast its seventh and final season on HBO and Fox in Summer 2014.
