Charlie Higson steps aboard the TARDIS to take Christopher Eccleston's Ninth Doctor on a new adventure this month!
BBC Worldwide have today announced the publication of Doctor Who: The Beasts of Babylon for release at digital retailers later this month. The ninth instalment in the company's monthly range of 50th Anniversary eBooks, Beasts is penned by Charlie Higson and focuses on the Ninth Doctor (as played by Christopher Eccleston in 2005's Series One).
Charlie is best-known for his television and radio work including Down The Line and The Fast Show, yet teen fiction fans may well recall that he's also scribed the Young Bond origins series and a new run called The Enemy in recent years. He joins Eoin Colfer, Michael Scott, Marcus Sedgewick, Philip Reeve, Patrick Ness, Richelle Mead, Malorie Blackman and Alex Scarrow in the prestigious list of children's authors celebrating the show's 50th Anniversary in literary form.
Here's the synopsis for this latest chapter in the series: "When a girl called Ali pockets a silver orb that falls from the sky, little does she realise it's her ticket to seeing the universe! Desperate to retrieve the mysterious object, the Ninth Doctor agrees to let her join him on a dangerous trip to ancient Babylon. Together they must join forces to stop a giant Starman from destroying Earth before it's too late!" The premise of the narrative does sound a little childish at first, as does the name of the newly-created antagonist, but even keeping in mind the text's target audience, this should be nothing short of a great read.
Doctor Who: The Beasts of Babylon retails on Amazon Kindle, kobo and other eReader devices this September 23rd.
