Illumination Entertainment's next big animation gets pushed back- and its new release year shouldn't come as a surprise...
Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have today announced a revised release date for their upcoming animated film The Minions Movie. A spin-off and prequel instalment within the successful Despicable Me franchise, this origins tale was originally set to launch in November 2014, yet has now moved into perhaps the most challenging year for motion pictures yet.
If it wasn't immediately obviously by that description, the third Despicable Me adventure will launch in none other than 2015. To put the intensity of that particular year into perspective, here's a list (in chronological order) of each and every one of its biggest blockbusters: Spongebob Squarepants 2, The Fantastic Four, Cinderella, The Penguins of Madagascar, Ted 2, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World, Assassin's Creed, Terminator 5, Independence Day: Forever- Part 1, Batman Vs. Superman, The Minions Movie, Ant-Man, Bond 24, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay and Kung Fu Panda 3. As exciting as having each of these follow-ups will be for fanbases the world over, there's always going to be a growing concern that certain franchises will fall by the wayside in the aftermath of the war of the Summer season. Time will tell!
The Minions Movie launches a cascade of freeze-ray blasts into cinemas worldwide on July 10th, 2015.
