The fourth instalment in the Jurassic Park franchise lands in one of the film industry's most hectic years...Universal Pictures have today announced the production of Jurassic World for release in cinemas in the near future. The fourth instalment in the studio's fantasy prehistoric movie franchise that began with the release of Jurassic Park in 1993, this latest motion picture is directed by Colin Treverro and does not yet have any cast members attached.
Easily the biggest development announced today is that of the film's title. Jurassic World seems to imply that the catastrophic escapades of the original Jurassic Park trilogy will now move to a canvas of a far greater scale for the third sequel in the series. Due to the lack of casting announcements, it is not known for certain yet whether this is a direct continuation of the narrative last visited in Jurassic Park 3, or indeed whether a pseudo-reboot format will be established whereby a new ensemble feature in a universe which integrates into the past continuity (this is an approach seen recently in the likes of Transformers: Age of Extinction and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides).
