New Grand Theft Auto Online Details Debut

On the eve of Grand Theft Auto V's release, find out all there is to know about the upcoming Online update.
Rockstar Games have today released a series of new hints and details on their upcoming Grand Theft Auto Online video game experience. An additional contributory element to Grand Theft Auto V set to premiere two weeks after the product's release, Online allows up to 16 players to roam Los Santos, duke it out with arms or on the roads and partake in audacious heists together.

Courtesy of Game Informer, the studio have launched more tidbits on just what to expect in this multiplayer campaign. Here's our round-up of the key reveals:
  • The vast majority of gameplay mechanics from GTA V's main campaign- heists, races, tennis, quad biking, parachute dives, golf and more- will carry over to Online.
  • Online's narrative takes place after the events of Michael, Franklin and Trevor's dramatic exploits in Los Santos.
  • Select AI groups will offer assistance to faithful followers- security firms will call in airstrikes, biker clubs will lend fire support in battles and tech specialists will hide your character on other players' radars.
  • The first action you take in Online is to customise your character's appearance, familial and social background as he steps off a plane into the city.
  • Players can yell into their headsets during robberies to hurry the cashiers or staff up or to induce a state of enhanced fear amidst a room of hostages.
  • When multiplayer missions commence, roles in the heists and smaller objectives will be assigned based on each player's specialist preferences.
  • Don't expect just to carry all of your cash around with you in the game world- there'll be ATMs from which to collect money for your person so as to guarantee that if you're shot down, other players can't steal everything...
  • If you do manage to be robbed, though, players can place a bounty on the thief's head for others to take up for their own materialistic pleasure!
Grand Theft Auto V blasts onto Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 17th. Grand Theft Auto Online releases as an update to GTA V on October 1st.
