Walt Disney Pictures have today announced an altered series of release dates for their major upcoming movies. What with balancing the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the revived Star Wars franchise with their various animated and live-action motion pictures, the studio have a challenging yet potentially fortuitous situation on their hands in the coming years.
So just what changes have been made to the impending line-up of flicks? Here's our round-up of those films whose release dates have been altered with currently unrevealed motives:
- MALEFICENT- May 30th, 2014 (Previously: July 2nd, 2014)
- THE GOOD DINOSAUR- November 25th, 2015 (Previously: May 30th, 2014)
- FINDING DORY- June 17th, 2016 (Previously: November 25th, 2015)
In this series of rescheduled releases, Disney have potentially offered one or two clues as to the progress of their next trio of first-party film productions. If anything, Finding Dory looks to have had the most profound effect, its shift to a Summer 2016 premiere likely being the central motivation for the studio filling its release date with The Good Dinosaur and shunting Maleficent accordingly. There'll be no Pixar movie in 2014 as a result of these alterations, yet with any luck Saving Mr Banks Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy will more than compensate next year.
Disney's next upcoming motion picture release is Thor: The Dark World, set to hammer its way into cinemas across the UK on October 30th.
