Walt Disney Studios and Dreamworks Studios have today released the first trailer for their upcoming racing blockbuster film Fast &...sorry, Need For Speed. Adapted loosely from EA Games' bestselling franchise, the newest video game incarnation of which will launch with Need For Speed: Rivals later this year, the movie will star Dominic Cooper, Michael Keaton and Dakota Johnson.
If that rather underwhelming cast line-up was the most potentially destructive part of the motion picture version, then this writer's worries for the flick wouldn't be so prominent. However, that Fast & Furious gag which I opened the piece with is extremely relevant in all honesty, the aforementioned Paramount franchise hitting its seventh entry in 2014 and likely to perform exceedingly well. Recent sub-par efforts such as John Carter and The Lone Ranger have proved that the Disney tag alone won't carry a film anymore, so the initial portents aren't quite as promising as the studio might have hoped!
Need For Speed drifts into cinemas worldwide on March 14th, 2014.
