Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Delayed

As one Disney film rises, another must falter- all the latest on Jack Sparrow's fifth instalment!
Walt Disney Pictures have today announced a delay in the release date of their upcoming fantasy historical film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The studio's decision to push back the latest instalment in Jerry Bruckheimer and Gore Verbinski's Pirates franchise has been confirmed on the same day as their announcement that Ant-Man will premiere three months earlier than expected.

There's seemingly more to the situation than Disney favouring their Marvel Cinematic Universe, though. Pirates lead star Johnny Depp has a hectic schedule in the years ahead with both Into The Woods and Through The Looking Glass on the horizon. The American icon has in addition only recently completed production on The Lone Ranger earlier this year, so it comes as little surprise that Johnny perhaps needs a small break between motion pictures.

Of course, Dead Man Tell No Tales now marks the first motion picture to shy away from its intended 2015 release date. The likeliehood of such a development for at least one or two major blockbusters set for release that year seemed inevitable, especially given that The Fantastic Four, Star Wars Episode VII, Ted 2, Ant-Man, Superman Vs Batman, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Bond 24 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 2 are all set for release in the course of 2015's twelve months. Now it only remains for us to discover whether other motion pictures follow suit and high-tail it out of 2015 before they're crushed in the onslaught...

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will now sail into cinemas worldwide in Summer 2016.
