Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios have today released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming superhero film sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron. The final instalment in Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Two, the much-anticipated follow-up features Ultron (James Spader) as its central antagonist, his technology seemingly corrupted from the Iron Man armour if the hints in this first trail (below) are to be believed.
Fans won't be left underwhelmed by the level of new content in Age, though. Writer and director Joss Whedon has introduced two new Avengers, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, into the fray this time around. The actors taking on the roles are still currently to be confirmed, but Kick-Ass' Aaron Taylor-Johnson is said to be adopting the mantle of the former hero. Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) will all definitely return, with Scarlett Johnasson and Jeremy Renner's reprisal of their roles seeming virtually inevitable on top of those. On the basis of this originally ComicCon-spawned preview, the wait until release is going to be a long and arduous one for the franchise's followers!
Avengers: Age of Ultron assembles in cinemas worldwide on May 1st, 2015.
