Star Wars 3D Release Date Revealed
They said 2012 will bring the end of the world, and they may not have been wrong: Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace will be released in 3-D next year on February 10th next year, it has been confirmed by Lucasfilm today. Yep, that really does mean you can pay to rewatch the horrors of pod-racing, battle droids and of course Jar-Jar Binks in three whole dimensions. You may have noticed I'm not thrilled about the move by George Lucas to bring out all six films of the Star Wars saga again to a new generation- my reason for that is would it really be that hard to skip the rubbish prequels and head onto the genre-defining original movies? Apparently not, Lucas' motive clearly being to milk as much money as possible from the Star Wars cash cow safe in the knowledge that his loyal fans will go and see all six instalments regardless. Heck, I know that I'll go and see the entire saga every year as close to day one as I'm capable just to see my favourite franchise in 3-D on the big screen once again, even though I know at the same time that The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones (Revenge of the Sith is okay, not amazing but better) won't have improved by any stretch of the imagination. Nevertheless, no matter my or your thoughts on the re-releases, look out for the first cash-grabber next February.
