First Atlantis Promotional Poster Released

BBC One's latest fantasy drama is closer than ever- get ready for the legend of Atlantis to begin...
The BBC have today released the first promotional poster for their upcoming fantasy drama series Atlantis. A spiritual successor to the hit Saturday night fantasy show Merlin, which concluded its five-year run on BBC One last Autumn, this new series comes from the makers of that Arthurian saga and so should be guaranteed to go down a storm with younger viewers.

For those of us with higher expectations of televisual dramas, however, the question remains as to whether this new season of adventures can match what Howard Overman and the talented Merlin production team gave us in the thirteen-episode Season Five back in Autumn 2012.

As one commenter remarked today, at this stage it's difficult to see the justification as to why BBC One will commission a full uninterrupted run of an uncertain project such as this, when shows such as Doctor Who, Sherlock and Being Human have either had limited episode lengths or in the latter instance, been cancelled altogether. Expect reviews of Atlantis' opening instalments at the blog, and more reviews besides if the series does grow into a compelling drama later on in its initial run.

Atlantis blasts onto BBC One this Autumn.
