Who News: Destiny Covers, Series 8 Writer Revealed

Find out another member of the Series Eight writing team, plus see the final Destiny of the Doctor range covers!
We're fast approaching Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary Special now, with just fourteen weeks (or 97 days, to be precise!) to go until the momentous episode broadcasts on BBC One. In anticipation of this, we've got a couple of new news releases regarding the merchandise and the future of the programme.

Here's our semi-regular round-up of all of the latest and greatest news surrounding the vast four-dimensional realms of Doctor Who:

  • A DESTINY IS BORN- For fans of AudioGo and Big Finish's Doctor Who audio ranges, the 50th Anniversary year has been something of a blessing, bringing with it the acclaimed Destiny of the Doctor range as a collaboration from the two studios. Well, we can now reveal the CD covers of the final two releases in the series- Death's Deal, a Tenth Doctor and Donna tale read by Catherine Tate and Duncan Wiseby, and The Time Machine, the series finale featuring the Eleventh Doctor and Clara, read by Jenna Coleman, Nicholas Briggs and Michael Cocrane. You can catch both of the impressive cover artwork images below. Death's Deal lands on October 3rd, with The Time Machine following on November 7th.
  • CROSSING THE FUTURE- Another big announcement today has come from a past Doctor Who writer. Neil Cross has confirmed that he will return for Series Eight to pen a new episode for the Twelfth Doctor. Cross previously penned the Series Seven tales The Rings of Akhaten and Hide, the latter of which was regarded by many as one of the best episodes of the run. He'll join Steven Moffat and Jack Lothian in the currently-confirmed list of writers for the new series, widely expected to be Moffat's last given that he has now penned four seasons just as his predecessor Russell T. Davies did along with a host of Specials.
Doctor Who returns with its blockbuster 50th Anniversary Special this November 23rd on BBC One and in cinemas worldwide.
