Who News: Steven Moffat On The Future

The Eleventh Hour will end, and secrets will be revealed. Our round-up of all of Steven Moffat's latest teasers...
Doing the rounds at the Edinburgh Television Festival and in the pages of Doctor Who Magazine, executive producer Steven Moffat has this week unleashed a host of new hints regarding the future of Doctor Who. These teasers entail the 50th Anniversary Special, the Christmas Special, Series Eight and even elements as obscure as upcoming merchandise, and each of them is well worth a read.

Let's dawdle no longer, then, and instead get straight onto what the Moff has been saying recently. Here's our full round-up of all the latest details on the future of Doctor Who...

  • ON THE DOCTOR AND CLARA'S REACTIONS TO HIS REGENERATION- "I think the fun story will be is this is what regeneration can do to you. He can be very, very different. Just as Clara's learning to have a proper old crush on him, suddenly he's Malcolm Tucker! People really love Jenna, so we make the Doctor quite difficult..."
  • ON PETER JACKSON DIRECTING A WHO EPISODE- "He's serious about it. We talked at The Hobbit premiere- he just wants a Dalek. So we'll give him a Dalek and he'll direct an episode. I think he'd like us to go to New Zealand. I think it's entirely possible."
  • ON JK ROWLING WRITING A 50TH ANNIVERSARY eBOOK- "I can't confirm that...yet!"
  • ON A RETURN FOR THE DOCTOR'S DAUGHTER- "The door is open, it's entirely possible."
  • ON A RETURN FOR ROMANA- "I have actually given no thought at all to Romana. The Time Lords are dead in my mind. They died."
  • ON WHETHER THE TWELFTH DOCTOR WILL HAVE CAPALDI'S SCOT ACCENT- "I'd be very surprised if he didn't. I can't see why not!"
  • ON SHERLOCK'S SURVIVAL- "He cunningly avoided the pavement- that really is the only way to avoid dying. There's only a limited number of ways he can do this. He's got to interrupt his fall before he hits the pavement."
  • ON THE 2013 CHRISTMAS SPECIAL- "The special ties up stuff from all corners of Matt's tenure- there are things I set in motion in Matt's very first episode that I'm paying off now. It's been a long game, but most of the questions that people asked will be answered..."
Doctor Who returns with its blockbuster 50th Anniversary Special on BBC One and in cinemas worldwide this November 23rd.
