"We find something, that keeps us going..." Crystal Dynamics confirm a next-gen sequel to this year's hit platforming shooter!
Crystal Dynamics have today announced the development of Tomb Raider 2 for release on next-generation consoles in the near future. Taking place in the same rebooted universe as this year's hit platformer-shooter Tomb Raider (9/10), this new follow-up will focus on a stronger teenage Lara as she takes her first steps into the realms of globe-trotting adventure, discovering more of her (slightly outrageous) limits and capabilities in due course.
Here's what developers Crystal Dynamics had to say on the matter via CEO Phil Rogers: "I'm excited to reveal that we are well in development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel- something you may have heard about recently!" It's true that with confirmation of a bridge comic incoming and set to take place between the two games, the news of a sequel was rather obvious to foretell. However, that work is taking place on bringing this project to next-generation hardware comes as more of a surprise, as it may lead us to wonder whether Crystal will even launch their sequel on the current-generation hardware that players experienced their initial reboot on earlier in 2013.
Tomb Raider 2 will retail on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2014.
