New BioShock Infinite: Burial At Sea Details Revealed

What lies beneath the surface is darker than you could possibly imagine- the first hints on the first full Infinite expansion here.
Irrational Games have today announced new details on their upcoming downloadable video game expansion BioShock Infinite: Burial At Sea. Based in the underwater city of Rapture (first introduced in the original BioShock titles), this new two-part campaign takes place before the descent of this idyllic human shelter into chaos and villainy.

The new details come from IGN's latest interview with Irrational, which has produced a few intriguing insights into the product's first expansion. Here's our round-up of everything that should take players' interests:

  • ON ELIZABETH AS A PLAYABLE CHARACTER- "Liz is such a different character to Booker, and if we were just to put Booker in a dress, then that would just be the most awful betrayal of what we're doing for Liz, and players would just feel like it's a cheap way out, and that's not something we want to do. She needs to be thinking in a kind of roundabout way how to deal with her enemies. And, sometimes, that might mean bypassing the enemy entirely, because she doesn't need to fight. So, how that pans out and plays in the environment, I'm awfully excited to do. It'll be fantastic!"
  • ON THE CHARACTER TRANSITION- "I'm not gonna say what happens, but at the end of the first part of Burial At Sea, Elizabeth goes into another sort of realisation and, to then put you in her shoes, we thought was gonna be very powerful. She is very much Elizabeth, but she also has a character. She's affected. She's definitely changed by what she's done. I will say that you are picking up after the events of Infinite, and this is a person who's seen all of the things you've seen in Infinite, and that's had an effect on her."
BioShock Infinite: Burial At Sea Episode 1 retails on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network this Winter.
