Warner Brothers Montreal reveal the first gameplay footage of their spiritual sequel to Batman: Arkham Origins...Warner Brothers Montreal have today released the first gameplay trailer of their upcoming side-scrolling action video game Batman: Arkham Origins- Blackgate. Launching alongside the console version of Arkham Origins this Autumn and taking place after the events of the much-anticipated Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 prequel, Blackgate integrates Metroidvania-esque '2.5D' combat and stealth mechanics in an entirely new narrative.
The campaign itself takes the Dark Knight into the dark recesses of Blackgate Prison, where a failed escape attempt has resulted in the jail's most notorious inmates taking control of the facility. Classic DC villains teased for returns in the trailer (below) include the Joker, the Penguin, Black Mask, Deadshot, Catwoman and Solomon Grundy. That latter pair of aforementioned antagonists are both exclusive to Blackgate, offering handheld players the chance to encounter iconic Bat-villains for the first time along with the Caped Crusader.
Batman: Arkham Origins- Blackgate glides onto PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS on October 30th.
