A Hollywood legend has spent more than enough time teasing his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe- find out the truth, now.
Marvel Studios have today announced a new cast member in their upcoming science-fiction superhero motion picture Guardians of the Galaxy. The penultimate instalment in Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Two prior to the release of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, this extraterresterial flick will introduce viewers to a host of alien heroes in their war to topple the dominion of the galactic dictator Thanos.
While he won't be voicing the aforementioned behind-the-scenes antagonist teased in Avengers Assemble, Vin Diesel nevertheless has confirmed that he has a role to play in Guardians. Specifically, Diesel will adopt the mantle of Groot, an alien monster who strongly resembles the morphology of Earth trees, and similarly recalls recent living plant-life represented in the likes of The Lord of the Rings and Avatar. This is undoubtedly a peculiar position for the Hollywood star to inherit in an acclaimed franchise such as this, yet the Riddick actor admitted that his ambitions never involved headlining a motion picture series that already has its fair share of icons at the helm. Whatever your stance on Diesel's previous work, this at least appears to be an admirable decision, and watching the man who gave us Riddick provide a dazzling interpretation of a fearsome off-world character should be intriguing to say the least...
Guardians of the Galaxy materialises in cinemas worldwide on August 1st, 2014.
