Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has today revealed some new hints on the antagonists in Walt Disney Pictures' upcoming science-fiction superhero movie Guardians of the Galaxy. Starring Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Chris Pratt and John C. Reilly, this new instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe places its focus on a team of intergalactic extraterresterial heroes whose battles may hold a formative influence over days to come for Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Here's our round-up of what Feige had to say on Guardians' villains, the return of Thanos and the film's integration within the course of the Avengers Phase Two narrative:
- ON THE VILLAINS- "Ronan The Accuser is very much the main bad guy. And Thanos is lurking above [the war between the Guardians and Ronan]."
- ON THANOS- "You will learn more about Thanos [who first appeared in Avengers Assemble] in Guardians, for sure. Certainly you'll get more than the one turn around and smirk. You'll get much more than that!"
- ON THE FILM'S PLACEMENT IN AVENGERS LORE- "It's not exactly revealed what year or month it is in relation to the other Phase Two films. But yes, it's the same time. We've already said that Thanos plays a part in it and is a character in it. That in and of itself should tell you it's connected to the other worlds."
Guardians of the Galaxy invades cinemas worldwide on August 1st, 2014.
