Believe it or not, Rayman Legends is fast becoming one of this writer's most anticipated video game titles of 2013, its recent spectacular demo a superb showcase of the project's visual and gameplay assets. This week, the Official Nintendo Magazine have provided us with the first review of Legends, including a score and assessment of its contributory elements.
Legends earns a mighty 92% score from ONM. Here's our round-up of what the official publication had to say on the title's various features:
- There's virtually as many original ideas as could be found in the Super Mario Galaxy games.
- The single-screen multiplayer (along with the WiiU GamePad co-op) is one of the best implementations of the WiiU controller set-up yet.
- Although it's a fantastic experience regardless of player numbers, it's better with friends.
- The Murphy stages are a particular area where playing solo just isn't quite as engaging as playing through with at least a mate.
- You won't struggle to beat the 'core' narrative in around 7 hours, but the more taxing levels beyond will test fans just as much Super Mario Galaxy 2 did.
- Expect plenty of replay value added too from the extensive range of levels, a whopping 40 'classic' levels from Rayman Origins revived with a new art style and competitive high score events!
Rayman Legends retails on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo WiiU this August 30th.
